If you're reading this text before d'loading the whole file... Well, inside it there's only a font truetype for mac. It is also the very first font I created...
It's freeware too. This means that you won't have to pay anything. But you can't modify it or port it to windowc AND distribute it. If you want to distribute it, it must be UNMODIFIED and free of charges (except the usual d.load and connection fees that some sites apply). This means that you can't sell it or make it look like you made it. I retain the authorship, although I don't have enough money to sue you if you decide to not heed my recommendations. Another thing: standard disclaimers about your computer's health apply here. Use this font at your own risk. I don't have the money to defend myself from YOU suing me! If you're gonna to put it on a CD-ROM, please ask me for permission before doing so.
Oh well, I got the legal stuff out of the way. Now let's explain you what the heck is this font, so that you can decide if you want to keep it or trash it away (but still give it to your friends or enemies! ;-) )...
It's an almost-international font that looks like it's written with a pen with a very fine tip. The characters look a bit "sticked" together, but their outlook isn't a ugly one (if it was, I'd have trashed it, wouldn't I? :) ). However, it is readable only from 12 points upward. The best choice is 14.
There are only 3 problems:
1) There is no bitmap! Therefore, it looks horrible on screen. But when you'll print it, you'll find it is rather cute :-) . If you're some WYSIWYG fan, please keep reading this read-me... At the end there is a nice proposal for you...
2) If you set it to bold, shadow or bordered, you'll lose the nice round tips, since it is a plain-only font and your Mac's doing its best to twist it. However, if you wish to have also a PennaBold, please keep reading...
3) Of the Eastern Europe's typical characters I 've put only the D and d with a tiny horizontal bar, just because I was quite sure how to write 'em. So, if you're from Eastern countries, you might send me a list of characters of your language and I'll be happy to send you an Eastern update of this font (the PennaNormal)
Thank you for having kept on reading... :-)))

Proposal:
If you wish to get also the bitmaps (I haven't yet made 'em), if you wish to get the PennaBold's truetype (this bitmap is still to do) well...
REGISTER!!!
ONLY truetype PennaBold: 10$ or 15,000 lire.
(You won't get a shadow or bordered version, since I won't make 'em!)
Please put your money (CA$H) in a white opaque envelope and send it at:
Barbara Pennacchi,
Via Michele di Lando 72
00162 Roma.
Please add also your full name and your postal address (either e-mail or snail-mail)... Do you really think I'm a telepath? :-))) I'll send you as soon as possible the PennaBold either on a diskette or in a bin-hexed e-mail. For the diskette, you'll have to send it together with the money... (this is for snail-mailers only).
----------------
For penniless programming students, like me:
If you haven't got money and still want to have the PennaBold, why don't you send me one of the shareware programs you made? That way you'll get FREE the PennaBold and become a registered user... and I won't have to send you money that I don't have... :-)
SEND BUG REPORTS TO: b.pennacchi@agora.stm.it
I'm sorry, but the present proposals don't include bitmaps for two reasons:
1) It is a tedious task, even worse than checking kerning pairs, and I don't think that bitmaps are REALLY this necessary...
2) I'm preparing some exams for the university!
At any rate, who registers will get free upgrades of the two fonts and can get the bitmaps (if I get to make them) for an additional 5$ or 10,000 lire. Registered users will also get a discount on other fonts/programs, to be released in a future soon to come.
I'm currently preparing a font for transcribing Italian Sign Language and another font pertaining only to symbols used in Linear Algebra and Calculus...
Why do I ask for money? Not because I'm greedy (heck, if it was only for money I'd start selling Macs!), but because making a new font, even if I like doing it, is always tiring for my eyes and my hands and it always takes some time away from more mundane matters... :-)
At least, with your money, I get some hope to be able to repair my (broken) moped! :-)
Best regards,
Barbara Pennacchi.
P.S: No, I'm not THAT presumptuous! "Penna" in Italian means "pen" or "feather"!
